About Us
Mondokio means "world eye" in Italian. And this is exactly what we developed—a
world eye for reading international news.
The problem we are addressing is that you can't learn about an international news
story from just one, culturally specific news source. Doing so inevitably
misrepresents the reality of that story.
Our belief is that every news source presents events in a manner shaped by its
location, its audience, its language, how it is financed, etc. Mondokio pulls
together and presents, on one site, the most influential coverage on issues of
global significance. In doing so, we reveal those perspectives which were
previously hidden, and further develop this "world eye."
We also believe the Arts will play an integral role in how international news is
presented in the future. As you navigate through our site, you'll notice music
that corresponds to the location of the news sources. (Many of these songs are
available for purchase through iTunes.)
The way people learn about the world is flawed. Mondokio is a tool to
